The 'Equal Union' campaign aims to make sure that your union is one that is proud of its diversity!
Throughout the academic year the Liberation Team will invite Hope's clubs, teams and societies to a training session exploring Equality issues and what they do for their members from each Liberation Group it is also an opportunity to give extra advice and support on improving services.
The LGBT part of this training will include...
- Ways that the society/team can be opened to members of the LGBT community,
- How to consider (the safeguarding of) LGBT people in their planning,
- Policy ideas that can be in place to tackle LGBT-phobic behaviour, and,
- Union safeguarding and equality policies.
The Team are proud to have developed 'The SU Equality Mark' that is awarded to teams, clubs and societies that go the extra mile for their members and pride the diversity and equality of their students.
The awards are on a scale of 'Bronze' through to 'Platinum' depending on the level of the work done as well as the effect over ALL four Liberation campaigns (LGBT, BME, Women's and Disabled Students).
